Have you planned how you will celebrate your one true love this month? Oh, no silly, I meant YOU. Give yourself some attention, tell yourself how special and brilliant you are and buy yourself something that will blow your socks off. It is the season of LOVE.
For many, Valentines Day rolls around just as a sucky reminder that we have "nobody" to celebrate with. Um, excuse me? Yes, you do. (hint: above)
For others, who do have a significant one, maybe a crush or lover to pine over on 2/14, the pressure to impress can be as stifling as a bad bottle of great wine.
And what about those who are on the receiving end of this shower of affection, does the attention, praise and snazzy material thing really boost you up right in the heart chakra? Really?
Well, I have a sense that self-care may be falling short for ALL of us during this poetic time of Love.
I propose that you propose to yourself this Valentines Day.
Show your deepest respect and admiration of all things YOU and beautiful. Remember that time you were incredibly brilliant in that one conversation? Ya, you nailed that. Oh and don't you just love the way you do that thing when nobody else is watching, like break dancing in the kitchen, or singing in your FULL voice in the car? Or, that drawing you did when you where in art school, now that was amazing.
Take care of yourself loves. You are a true gift. Your body, your hair, your mind, your imagination and creativity, your thoughtfulness. My god, youre amazing! No, I did not say perfect. Perfect? Is that really what youre going for? Please say no.
Special, unique, yourself in all its full power and glory, you are amazing as you are. And you are even more amazing when you give yourself a little acknowledgment.
This is the one body and mind that you've got! It longs for your approval. It longs for your affection and attention. "Just look at me!" It cries. "See me. I am something", it whispers.
What do you need to feel love? Inside love. Go get that, do that, say that, be that now. Because when you feel love from the inside it spreads outside, it is then that you can truly show your love for another, or a thing, or the world.
This amazing little book has saved lives!
Ask yourself, why not? Now go write a love letter to yourself and boost that spirit up, you are the most important thing in your whole world. Do you really need someone else to tell you that? Of course, not. Write down everything your best love would tell you in your brightest fantasy. Give yourself a sweetheart's nickname. Thank yourself for all you aspire to be. You truly do deserve this inner love and admiration.
Self, I love you...
